NO. Though education is an industry, teacher is not a workman. Therefore teachers in schools and colleges can not seek remedy through any authority under the Industrial Disputes Act,1947.

Grievance Handling for Teachers in India

Unfortunately, there is no grievance handling mechanism in India for teachers, and educational institutions are exploiting college and school teachers. In my opinion, the civil court will not provide a speedy remedy, and you may approach the High Court under Article 224 and file a writ petition. You can raise your voice in the High Court under Article 224, as there is a provision of the right against exploitation (Fundamental Right) in our constitution. This option is speedy and gives better results.

Teachers' Role and Compensation

Teachers are the building blocks of our society. In primary schools, we can hire a teacher at the rate of Rs. 2000/- per month, while we are unable to hire a sweeper at the rate of Rs. 10000/- per month.
