I had to leave immediately as my hometown is 2800 km away from my work location. I informed my managers through a message and email that I had to leave for my hometown.
Upon reaching my hometown, the doctor advised that my father needed open-heart surgery and would require monitoring for a few months post-surgery. Additionally, my elderly and handicapped parents rely on me as I am their only son. Due to these circumstances, it was not feasible for me to return to the office, given the distance and my parents' needs.
I sent a resignation email to my manager, senior manager, and HR, explaining my situation. However, my manager insists that I serve a 30-day notice period, displaying arrogance and a lack of empathy. Despite being a top performer in my team and earning a good reputation for my work, my manager's selfishness is causing distress.
How to Resign Without Serving the Notice Period
My question is, how can I resign without serving the notice period? Can I take any action if the company refuses to let me go?

Please write to the HR head of your firm attaching supporting documents and requesting a release on the humanity grounds. Hope this works . Please take care!

Humanitarian grounds should never be ignored in such circumstances. Send a written request to HoD HR with a copy to our manager asking for immediate release. Enclose limited xerox copies of father's medical documents.

Dear, don't be bothered about any issues from your employer, be it your manager, director, or anyone for that matter. Send them an email (preferably NOT from the official email but from your personal email for your record) or a registered post, stating your inability to serve a notice period and enclosing the scanned/photocopies of your father's medical reports. Just save the evidence of this correspondence and do not worry about the rest. Take care of your parents. Wish your father a speedy recovery and good health.

Was there a clause of 'a month's notice or one month's salary in lieu thereof'? If so, then the management may deduct that amount from your dues. Even then, your decision to give priority to your parents is absolutely justified. Jobs may come and go, but parents are forever.

Consider yourself as a former employee of the firm and move on. The worst that can happen is you won't have any documents of release, service, etc., from this company. That is manageable considering your extreme urgency to attend to our parents. I hope you are not holding any company assets or documents. If so, surrender them under proper documentation.

The company/manager should come forward to help you in this situation. I think they should provide you with some amount of medical help (ESI, mediclaim, or insurance). Please request financial assistance from them and ask for leave (loss of pay) as well. I hope they would agree; after all, they are also humans. Best of luck, take care.
