I have one query that I have worked in one organization for the past 13 years. Due to my personal problem, I left the service. Until date, my PF deductions were made from my salary, and I have some amount in my PF account. Now, I need to withdraw the total amount from my PF account. However, my pension should not be disturbed, and if I join another industry, my same PF account should continue. Please guide me regarding this or provide a contact number. My nearest office is linked with the Hubli office in Karnataka state.

Since you have 13 years of service, you cannot withdraw the Pension Fund amount (8.33% of the employer's contribution). However, you can obtain a Scheme Certificate, which would be beneficial in maintaining continuous service when you join another establishment.

There are two alternatives:

1. To withdraw the Provident Fund, you need to apply in Form 19 and also apply for a scheme certificate in Form 10 C (since you are not eligible for the withdrawal benefit of Pension).

2. Alternatively, you can transfer your entire account - both PF and Pension - to a new account upon joining a new establishment where EPF exists by applying in Form 13.

Since you have served for 13 years, it is advisable to transfer all your funds to the present company's PF account. If you wish to withdraw, you can withdraw the PF amount and obtain a scheme certificate. In case you take up another job later, you can contribute to the PF and obtain a scheme certificate upon leaving that employment. Upon reaching the age of 50 or 58, you can avail of a pension by presenting both scheme certificates.

There cannot be so many numbers of Scheme certificates. A Scheme certificate obtained while leaving an establishment should be surrendered to the EPF Organisation through the present employer. Upon leaving that employment, the individual must reapply using Form 10 C to obtain a scheme certificate that will reflect their cumulative service. This practice should be followed.

Madhuri, your post does not mention what your doubt is about the scheme certificate.

A scheme certificate is a certificate issued by the Employees' Provident Fund Organization, Ministry of Labour, Government of India, stating the details of service of the PF member, i.e., the holder of the certificate, along with details of family members eligible to receive a provident fund pension in case of the member/holder's death. It is issued upon request by the PF member using Form 10 C for those who wish to obtain it instead of withdrawing the pension fund contribution when leaving an establishment without completing a service of more than nine years and six months. In other words, an employee who leaves an establishment before completing the eligible pensionable service of ten years (nine years and six months deemed as ten years for this purpose) may choose between withdrawing the pension fund contribution made by the employer at 8.33% of the eligible salary or receiving a Scheme Certificate. This certificate allows the employee to add the service to any future PF service. Hence, when joining another EPF-applicable establishment, the employee can submit the scheme certificate through the new employer, combining the past service with the new service to accumulate pensionable service.

The Scheme Certificate also serves as an authentic record of service.

Dear Madhu.T.K,

Thank you for your clear note on SCHEME CERTIFICATE. Please guide me on the following:

I withdrew my PF Part alone from my previous employer but did not withdraw the pension part where I worked for 2 years. How can I transfer the pension amount to my new employer? Also, how can I obtain a scheme certificate? Is it possible to get a scheme certificate without completing 10 years? Please revert.

Dear Mohan,

If you have withdrawn only the PF amount, you can apply using Form 10 C. In this form, you can indicate that you prefer to receive a scheme certificate instead of withdrawal benefits. The scheme certificate can then be surrendered to your current employer, allowing you to receive credit for past service towards pension benefits.

Dear Madhu.T.K,

Thank you for your reply. Please clarify the following questions:

In case anyone has not completed 6 months, can they submit Form 10C for a scheme certificate?
Will the employer provide the scheme certificate or RPFC?

If I have completed 10 years of service, can I receive a pension amount from RPFC without reaching the age of 58 years?

If I have served for 10 years and submit a scheme certificate for a pension, until what age will I receive a pension?

Thank you in advance.

Mohan

If you have not completed six months of service, you cannot get a scheme certificate because the service in the scheme certificate is always rounded to one year. A scheme certificate is issued by the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation and not by the employer. If you have 10 years of service, you will be eligible to get a REDUCED pension upon attaining the age of 50 years.

Once you receive the pension, it will be available until the death of the member. Subsequently, the spouse of the member will start receiving the family pension, which will be available until his/her remarriage. Children (two children at a time) will also receive a pension up to the age of 25 years. In the case of daughters, the pension will be payable until their marriage. In the case of handicapped children, there is no age limit.

I have applied for an EPF claim, and I have received the claim only for Form 19, and the scheme certificate has been posted. If I want to claim the scheme certificate, what procedure do I have to follow? Because the scheme certificate is only for one year of service, please suggest to me how to get claimed by the scheme certificate.

My PF transfer to the new account has happened successfully. However, I am not sure if my EPS has been transferred to the new account or not. If I look online, I only see EPS details of my current employer. I had worked for 14 years with my previous employer. When I registered a grievance with EPFO, I received the following response: "Since there is no provision to view the EPS amount on the website, only service particulars are taken into account in the case of EPS transfer. Hence, the EPS amount is not reflected." I am currently clueless about my EPS amount.

Appreciate your help!

I had completed 7 1/2 years with my past employer and have been with my current employer for 7 years. While checking the PF portal, I noticed that the pension portion has not been transferred. I have been advised to obtain a scheme certificate to include the service in my current account. Accordingly, I submitted form 10C to my previous employer.

Benefits of Obtaining the Scheme Certificate

What are the benefits of obtaining the scheme certificate? Please advise.

Nobody can advise other than what is commented by the EPFO while rejecting the application for withdrawal. If the rule says that you cannot withdraw it once you become eligible for a monthly pension, how can you withdraw it?

Dear Sir,

I worked in a company for a period of 13 years. I have received the PF amount and the Scheme Certificate as well. Now, I urgently need money for an operation for my mother. Is it possible to cancel the Scheme Certificate and receive the money back (I do not need the pension after 50 or 58 years)? Please explain this process to me.

If you have Pension qualifying service of 10 years (9 years and more than six months) you can send form 10D for claiming monthly pension and start getting pension. Madhu.T.K

Hi, I have left my first company after 2 years and the second company after 4 years. I withdrew the PF of the first company, but I have not withdrawn the pension amount, thinking that I am not eligible as I didn't complete 10 years. However, I have not withdrawn the PF of my second company. Now, I want to withdraw my PF and pension of the second company and pension of the first company. Please suggest, am I eligible for the pension amount of both the companies.

PF Withdrawal and Pension Fund Query

I worked with TCS BPO for 7 years, from September 2008 to January 2016. In my last month's payslip, my PF deduction was Rs. 1044, and the PF fund with provisional interest was Rs. 115,112. I sent an email to HR stating that I want to withdraw my PF fund. The retirement team sent me documents to withdraw both the PF and Pension fund. When I checked with HR about the money I will receive in the claim, he informed me that it will be the same amount as shown in my payslip.

Can someone tell me if this is the total amount I will receive from both the PF and Pension fund, or will there be anything more? Approximately how much? Also, how can I calculate this amount? What is the rate of interest percentage and growth rate in PF contribution? When I joined, my monthly gross was Rs. 13,833.

Thanks,

Hi Madhu,

I worked in a private organization for 2 years and 4 months. I am not working now. I am trying to join the government sector and am going to apply for PF. In Form 10-C (EPS), they have asked, "Are you willing to accept a scheme certificate in lieu of withdrawal benefits?" Should I fill in "yes" or "no"?

If you are joining a government service, there is no meaning in keeping your pension fund account, but you can withdraw it. Therefore, you may write "No," which means that you are not willing to get a scheme certificate but would like to take a withdrawal of the pension fund.

Clarification on Scheme Certificate and New Job

I have a doubt. Is it mandatory to surrender the scheme certificate to the EPF office if an employee gets a new job? In my experience, when I visited the EPF office regarding the scheme certificate, the office personnel told me that I have to keep this certificate with me until the pensionable service arrives. Also, in case I get a new job, I have to obtain another certificate and submit both when applying for the pension upon attaining the pensionable age. I am really confused about this. Could you please clarify for me?

You can keep the scheme certificates with you and surrender all the certificates along with your pension claim. There is no official circular from the EPFO stating that you can proceed in this manner, but officials typically prefer this approach. As per the law, individuals are expected to surrender their certificates when they join any organization.

Hi Madhu,

I served in my previous organization for over 10 years and withdrew my PF money. Upon joining a new organization, I obtained a new PF account. I have learned that individuals serving for more than 10 years are eligible for the PF pension scheme. How can I activate the pension scheme? Additionally, how do I link my previous service to demonstrate service continuity in my new account?

Thank you,
Ganesh

You may submit Form 10C showing willingness to get a scheme certificate in lieu of withdrawal benefits. You can hold the scheme certificate for the time being and submit the same along with the pension claim when you reach 58 years of age.

I joined a new company. While filling out the EPF application, it's mentioned that:

Scheme Certificate and PPO Number

12. (A) IF SCHEME CERTIFICATE ISSUED FOR PREVIOUS EMPLOYMENT, THEN SCHEME CERTIFICATE NUMBER: _ _ _
(B) IF PENSION PAYMENT ORDER (PPO) ISSUED FOR PREVIOUS EMPLOYMENT, THEN PPO NUMBER: _ _ _

I am continuing my PF and pension amount from the previous company. I would like to know about the points mentioned above (A) & (B). How can I get those two numbers, or is it not required while continuing the PF and pension amount?

Understanding Form 11 and Provident Fund Withdrawal

I hope your doubt is regarding Form 11, which is submitted to the new employer at the time of joining. If you have not received any scheme certificate from your previous employment, there is no need to fill this in. Similarly, if you are not a PF pensioner, you can leave it. This will be required in the following cases.

When an employee collects a scheme certificate whenever he leaves an establishment and closes/withdraws his PF accumulations, one can withdraw his PF once he leaves an establishment after waiting for two months. However, he cannot withdraw the Pension Fund if he has been in service for 10 years. In such cases, he can only opt for a scheme certificate and get it. When he joins another organization, he will start with a new Provident Fund and surrender his scheme certificate through the new employer. With this, his old (pensionable) service will be added to the new establishment.

Sometimes, an employee aged above 58 may join your establishment. He may be a PF pensioner. If he declares his pension order, he will become an excluded employee. On the other hand, he should be covered for the purpose of Provident Fund only.

The Form 11 you mentioned has been changed. The new form is attached.

Madhu T.K.

I left my service in 2017 and submitted an application to settle my PF account. The PF amount was credited to my bank account, but I have not yet received the Scheme Certificate. I have 10 more years of service.

Upon checking the status of my application on the online EPFO website, I found that Form 10 C was rejected due to a date of birth issue in the application and member's data. I had already submitted a joint declaration by the member and the employer with proof regarding the date of birth problem in 2016.

In this situation, what should I do to obtain my Scheme Certificate? Can I submit a fresh Form 10C application along with a copy of the joint declaration and proof of my date of birth? Please advise.
