Any company registered under the Shops Act or with a factory must maintain the wage register. You have to maintain the wage registers in hard copy, or you can request written permission to maintain them in soft copies from the concerned department/officer.

Maintaining Wage Registers
The law requires that you maintain wage registers. There is no specific definition of the term, so we need to go by the normal understanding. This means it should be in a hardbound register, from which pages cannot be removed or tampered with.
One option is to paste the printouts into the hard register. Another option is to bind the printouts every month into a register. A third option, as Jeevarathanam mentioned, is to get approval to maintain records in a soft copy. The rules are the same irrespective of whether you have 20, 100, or 1000 workers.

Hi Radha,
You can maintain a soft copy of the registers as per the prescribed format, which allows you to use formulas for calculations (wages, OT, etc.) and then print it out. After that, you can have it sealed and signed by your respective HODs or HR.
