I have worked for top MNCs in the blackened process with 4 years of experience. My last employment lasted about 1 year. I faced health problems, took a 2-week leave, returned to the office within 2 days, and then encountered further issues that led to hospitalization. The doctor advised me against eating in hotels due to bladder stone formation. Consequently, I decided to resign to focus on my health. However, my manager, located in a different state, did not accept my resignation. Despite explaining my situation, she doubted me and asked if I had found a new job. Around the same time, two seniors in my team had resigned, prompting the company to recruit 3 new employees who I was supposed to train. My manager's refusal to accept my resignation led to a misunderstanding, with the company assuming I had absconded. Now that my health has improved, I am job hunting again. Unfortunately, I do not have an experience certificate as my company cited my failure to serve the notice period and the assumption of absconding as reasons for denial.

Your concern is genuine. When applying for a new job, do not try to hide the gap in service. Show them the conversation regarding your previous company and your medical treatment documents. A good company will understand the health issue and take it into consideration. Keep in mind that after a gap, the salary offered to you might be the same or lower than your previous one; that is the general tendency of a hiring company. Be confident in your applications and look for positions that align with your past experience. Avoid pursuing vague opportunities just to get back into the workforce. It may take some time, but believe me, there are numerous open positions waiting to be filled by the right candidate.

Do not mention the reason for the gap in service on your resume or cover letter. Let the company discuss it with you during the interview.

Cheer up and all the best!
