What type of questions are asked in interviews for legal and company secretarial jobs? I am a Law graduate and pursuing the CS Professional course, so I am seeking a job in this field. Therefore, I need interview tips related to this field.

I have neither interviewed nor been interviewed for this profile, so I am not answering directly. However, I can give you a general idea of how the interview process works, assuming you are new to it. Below, I will outline how interviewers typically ask questions:

Starting the Interview

Begin your interview with a warm handshake and greet the interviewer by name.

- "Let me understand your candidature. Please give me a brief idea about yourself, starting with your family background."

- Education-related questions might follow, such as those about your institute, placements, courses, or any gaps.

- If you are an experienced candidate, employment-related questions and achievements will come next.

- "Why did you choose your functional area or professional education for your career?"

- They might ask you technical questions thereafter, which I think is the essence of your question. Let's see if other seniors answer this.

- "What do you know about our company? Have you visited our website?" (Note: It's very important to visit the company website and understand their business in advance.)

- "What do you know about this job profile?"

- "What are your strengths and weaknesses?" (Note: Match your strengths to the position you have applied for and keep weaknesses irrelevant, like improvement in handwriting, being too organized, or being a hygiene freak. Choose something that seems minor or could give a good impression. Don't fake it if you are the opposite. Keep it to one single point and avoid emotions like "I am very possessive," "I get hurt easily," "I don't like when...," etc.)

- "Have you dealt with any difficult situations successfully?"

- "What do you do in your free time?" (Do not fake hobbies.)

- "What is your current CTC?"

- "What is your expected CTC, and are you open to negotiation?" (Plan this well and be specific.)

- "If selected, when can you join us?"

- "Do you have any questions for me?" (Do not flatly deny; ask some relevant questions or at least inquire about growth prospects. Don't just ask anything for the sake of asking.)

Ending the Interview

Conclude your interview with a warm handshake, tell them it was nice to talk to them, and pass on any relevant information before you leave. For example, "I would be traveling from-to, so if I am unable to answer the call, please send me an email, and I will call you back." This helps in case they try to connect with you for further actions.

Interview Tips

- Do not get frustrated if you do not like their grilling. Stay calm, be specific and honest, listen with keen interest, and interact based on their information. This shows interest.
- Dress formally, no matter what.
- Be on time (15 minutes early, but not too early).
- Always keep a hard copy of your CV handy, along with a pen (do not borrow!), passport photographs, and one legal identity proof.
