I am going to complete my notice period and 5 years of service on the same day. Will I be eligible to receive gratuity? My colleagues have told me that "the notice period cannot be included in the calculation for gratuity." I am a full-time employee.

When you have been paid salary upto 5 years (inclusive of your notice period) you are eligible for gratuity.
