Dear All,Myself Krunal mhatre working in small scale chemical industry (API) as EHS executive.Right now my company infrastructure situation is worst.Management plan to reconstruct the plant within next 6 month but MS Support structure of company is not liable to working.
So if some kind of accident happen & fatality occur so how can i protect my self.
Suggest me any procedure,tips,written proof.

If you go through the state factory rules its clearly mentioning the qualifications, duties and condition of service of Safety Officers in a Factory. Most of the state factory rules having this provision.
Below is one of the important aspect from "The Tamil Nadu Safety Officers (Duties, Qualifications and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2005"
"to carry out plant safety inspections in order to observe the physical conditions of work and the work practices and procedures followed by workers and to render
advise on measures to be adopted for removing the unsafe physical conditions and preventing unsafe actions by workers;"
This is what the utmost important aspect being a safety officer you have to do to protect yourself in the legal point of view. Do proper plant safety inspections time to time. Record it (make it in black and white) and submit to the concern management representatives via mail or hard copy. This can help you to showcase you are performing your job in front of the court of law.
The rest of the functions mentioned in the Factory Rules, ask a Safety Officer to Advise , To Promote, To Render, etc. All these he suppose to do in-coordination with other departments and management. If management is not really wish to listen your advise, being a safety officer (Who is like a joker if not empowered) you cant do much.
So check your state factory rules. Wherever under the duties of Safety Officer, written the statements like "Perform", "Conduct", "Carry Out", please perform all those actions. Make it documented. You will be safe in front of legislations.
Try to take this assignment a challenging one. Try to change the culture of the organization. Do your best to bring in the safety systems so that the innocent human lives in the factory can be saved. All the very best.

while taking plant round you must observe and insist safe work practices and conduct external trainer support,stop unsafe work practices.you should circulate daily safety observations department wise(electrical,mechanical,production etc) and also that mail shoul sent to your personal mail id it will help a lot.
