My roommate has worked in a startup, let's say company 'A', for 2 years and 4 months. Then he went home and joined a company 'B' on a 6-month contract. He returned and joined a company 'C', which is a small MNC. When he joined, the requirement was for 3+ years of experience, but he only had 2 years and 10 months of experience. He made a mistake by stating that his total experience (2 years 10 months) was from company 'A' because mentioning company 'B' on his resume might not be preferred. Additionally, he submitted a fake document stating that he was a contract employee of company 'A' for 3 months and then permanent for 2 years and 10 months, citing that company 'A' recently shut down, which is why he was leaving.

Company 'C' conducted a third-party verification, and he asked a friend to verify via email, which was done. He has been working there happily for approximately 3 years now.

New Opportunity with an IT Giant

Now, he has been selected by an IT giant that requires NSR. He is contemplating providing all the correct details for companies 'A', 'B', and 'C', but he submitted incorrect details for company 'C'. He possesses all certificates such as offer letters and experience letters from previous companies. I have two questions:

1. Will the NSR request information from his current company (company 'C') regarding his previous company (company 'A')? (total experience and previous company)
2. Do companies like TCS, Wipro, and Accenture inquire about previous company details from the current employer?

He is experiencing depression, and I am concerned as I referred him to this IT giant. All HR personnel are familiar with me. He can rectify the false details regarding the 3 months and disclose the actual details about company 'C', or should he reconsider joining the new company?

Please respond ASAP as he needs to submit his resignation at his current company.

For his peace of mind and yours, he should come clean and tell them what he has done: that is, falsified his experience before joining this company, where he has worked for 3 years. That way, he will set his records straight. There is an English saying: "He who lies, lies to hide it and makes it two." When one tries to hide the second lie, the cycle repeats, and the mental agony will never end.

Don't disclose it. Just be true now. Mention the experience as it is: 2.4 years with A, 6 months with B, 3 years with C. If they ask about company B, he can say that it was a small company not having many projects at that time, so to enhance his learning, he moved to company C. They will inquire about company C regarding his tenure, CTC, and behavioral performances. Then, if they inquire about prior experience, they will ask about B and A. I don't think 6 months of experience will create trouble.

And please, guys, stop producing fake documents. It leads nowhere as you lose your peace of mind. So be original, be happy.

Expert Advice on Handling Fake Experience

Remove the fake experience, and hence, there is no need to submit fake documents. Company C would still consider him based on his current experience. Remember, there is a short life for fake things.

Can company 'Z' ask company "C" about the details of my roommate, such as his previous employment history, including the name of the company? In this scenario, company C might disclose that the current employment is with company A, while in reality, he is working for company B, a new IT giant. Moreover, can my friend provide accurate information in the National Skills Registry (NSR)? Company C should furnish details regarding his previous work experience. I have shared your advice with my friend, and he feels somewhat reassured. However, he is concerned about what will happen during the background verification process at company C. They may state his prior employer as company A, though in truth, it is company B. Please assist!

Verification of Employment Details and NSR Concerns

No company asks another company for individual details apart from verifying their job history at previous organizations. It is important to remember that NSR was initiated due to frauds and fake documents. Please do not submit any documents that are fake in nature.
