Employee Unfriendliness in IT Companies

Please refer to the following news article: Pay techie Rs 12.5 lakh for sacking her, Karnataka labour department orders US-based firm

The news sheds light on the following issues:
• Employee unfriendliness prevalent in IT companies
• HR's lack of courage to foster a culture of justice within the organization
• Use of jargon like "Employee Engagement," which is often emphasized by HR in high-profile MNCs

Will HR accept moral responsibility for this incident? Will any action be taken against the manager who harassed the junior techie?

Is there any way I can get hold of this decision from the IT department? More than the compensation for retrenchment, I am interested in the harassment angle. If she has indeed been compensated for harassment, it would be a landmark decision.

In my view, HR is the most critical part of the organization that must play a justified role for all employees and managers. Nowhere should the organization have spurious policies; instead, HR must handle them appropriately, being fair to every employee and supporting genuine employees, which will nurture a great company culture.

Taking responsibility and doing the right thing is the action that everyone is looking for.
