I work in a company that has its own provident fund trust which manages the provident fund of its employees. Recently, they collected a lot of documents from us, employees, for the UAN (Universal Account Number) scheme.

UAN and Company-Managed Provident Fund Trust

My question is, after the UAN becomes operational for EPFO, will employees like us, who are not registered with EPFO but instead registered with the company-managed private provident fund trust, get any UAN number? Can we also see our balance online?

Aadhar Collection and PF Account Transfer

Secondly, my company also collected Aadhar numbers for PF UAN purposes. I guess that means if any of us change jobs, it becomes mandatory for us to transfer our PF account, instead of closing the old one (and withdrawing the amount) and opening a new one at the new office. My question is, after the implementation of UAN, will there be any problem for the transfer of PF accounts for people like us who are registered with the company's in-house provident fund trust?

Any knowledgeable person, please help.

You too will get a UAN number, which can be used while transferring. There will not be any problem when you change your job. That number can be given to the new company to get it transferred.

It is mandatory by law since the beginning. Up till now, we were closing our accounts wrongfully. Now we wouldn't be doing it.

After the Implementation of UAN

After the implementation of UAN, will there be any problem for the transfer of PF accounts?

UAN is being introduced to overcome all the problems in withdrawals and transfers.
