The Government of Maharashtra has revised the rates of Basic as well as Special Allowances effective from March 03, 2014, in respect of the Construction and Engineering Industry. Please find attached the following:

1. Notification of revision in Basic in respect of the Construction Industry;
2. Notification of revision in Basic in respect of the Engineering Industry;
3. Notification of revision in Special Allowance of the Construction and Engineering Industry; and
4. Minimum Wage Rates upon the above revision in respect of the Construction and Engineering Industry.

In a two-month gap, this is the second increase in the rate of minimum wages of the above-mentioned industries.

I would be happy if the construction laborers get this much wage. Today, construction laborers in Mumbai are receiving wages not exceeding Rs. 250 per day. This is a well-known fact to everyone, including members of the wage committee. This increase would benefit the law enforcement authorities. The current rate of Rs. 500 per laborer per officer would increase by 100%.
