Dear Seniors,

I'm a fresher in the HR field, and nowadays I'm appearing for job interviews every now and then. I have participated in interviews with various companies related to different industries such as banking, education, and hospitality.

I have noticed that in every interview, the recruiter asks about the minimum wage rate. However, there are some issues with the answer:

1. The minimum wage rate is revised every 6 months. Unfortunately, I could not find the updated wage rates for the April 14 - Sep 14 quarter online to prepare for the interview.

2. There are approximately 1200 different measures or ways to indicate and assess minimum wages (to the best of my knowledge). These include central, state-wise, and further bifurcations based on skills, industries, etc., and can be calculated on a per day, monthly, etc., basis.

3. Some recruiters expect me to provide industry-wise figures (e.g., 6300 for Hospitality, 4620 for Education), while others ask for skill-specific information (e.g., "Tell me for semi-skilled contract workers!"), which often leaves me confused.

Request for Sources on Minimum Wage Information

I would like to know the source (such as a website or other resource) from where I can obtain the exact figures of updated minimum wages periodically (for all classifications). This information would be beneficial for both interviews and on-the-job situations. Additionally, I am curious about which Government of India department releases notices on updated minimum wages quarterly.

I am currently residing in Punjab but require details on minimum wages and their sources nationwide (central and state-wise, as well as industry-wise) as I am willing to work anywhere in India. Presently, I am primarily attending interviews in Punjab, Chandigarh, and Haryana.

I kindly request the knowledgeable seniors to provide guidance and assistance.

Thank you so much :)

To find updated minimum wage rates in India, you can refer to the official website of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. They regularly publish notifications regarding minimum wages for different categories of workers. Additionally, each state government also releases their notifications on minimum wages, usually available on the respective state labor department websites. For industry-specific minimum wage rates, you can check with industry associations or labor consultants who specialize in wage structuring. It's essential to stay updated with these sources to ensure compliance and accurate information during interviews and on-the-job scenarios.
