My current salary is 23,500 per month (282,000 CTC), with 22,750 in hand. There is a PF deduction of 750 per month, and no other deductions from the company. However, in this month's salary, they deducted 2,000 rupees for TDS.

TDS Applicability and Reimbursement

So my question to you guys is, how much TDS is applicable to my salary, and how can I get it reimbursed? I also submit my rent slips to the company on a monthly basis (5,500 rupees per month), with no other investments from my side.

Ways to Save on TDS

Secondly, what can I do to save on TDS?

According to your salary, your yearly total income will be 282,000 Rs. As per the income tax-free limit of 200,000 Rs. yearly, your taxable income will be only 82,000 Rs. However, the PF deduction will be tax-free, and your total PF deduction is 9,000 Rs. After adjusting for the PF amount, your taxable salary will be Rs. 73,000. You submitted an HRA of Rs. 66,000, so your total taxable income will be only Rs. 7,000. According to your taxable income, you have to pay only 10% of your taxable income, which amounts to 700 Rs.

Please check your salary slip to see how much your employer is paying you for the HRA allowance. If it is less than Rs. 5,500, then the benefit will be considered according to the same. For more details, ask your accounts department about the taxable breakup. You can submit some LIC policy, etc., if you have.
