Talent Acquisition Mailbox Incident

I received an email on the 14th of November regarding the offer for acceptance after the interview I had on the 11th of November in NOIDA. The interview HR representatives were Karan and Anchal. They sent me for the final round, and at that time, we were four people who cleared all the rounds, including me. The manager for the final round was Natraj from Accounts Payable, and we all gave the interview. Then we all went back home.

On the 14th of November, we received the offer for acceptance, including me and another girl who interviewed with me. The email requested documents such as a birth certificate and a resignation from the current employer. The note stated to send the documents by the 14th, so the next day, I resigned from my current employer. After that, I didn't receive any communication from their side.

I checked with Karan through my friend, Nikhil Aggarwal, who works at Aon Hewitt, and he confirmed that I was shortlisted for the Accounts Payable position in finance. Karan mentioned that by the end of the last week, they would send the offer letter to my email.

Today, they called me and questioned who told me to resign. They abruptly stated that this was our last conversation, bid goodbye, and hung up. The reason given was that they had hired me in buffer, and they no longer had a job.

Resigning Before Receiving an Offer Letter

It is not technically correct to resign before receiving the offer letter in hand. I have seen incidents where the employer has even denied employment after issuing the offer letter. Therefore, it is essential to have email confirmation regarding the offer letter, including the salary breakdown. Both parties should confirm acceptance via email. Additionally, you should have an email from the prospective employer instructing you to resign from your current position.

It is advisable to retract your resignation from your current employer before taking any legal action.
