If the company is not providing the PF number to the employee but is deducting the PF amount from the salary, how can we confirm whether they are maintaining the PF account in the employee's name? They are unwilling to provide the PF number, and every time we inquire, they mention that they will get back to us. What actions should we take in this situation? This is a private company with its Head Office in Delhi, and the PF accounts are managed in Delhi for the employees in the Chennai branch.

Please advise.

First, check if you are covered under PF or not. Ask for the payment details or payslip. If you know that your PF amount is being deducted, then collect necessary documents and proof of the contribution to PF. One more important thing, if you are covered under ESI, the joining date in ESI is essential as proof of your joining there. The employer has to pay your PF from that date. Then, go to the PF office and file a complaint.
