Hi everybody, I was in my interview where the gratuity amount gets deposited if the employees don't collect it, and employers have no clue where the employees and nominees are. Can anybody share some information about it?

Gratuity Eligibility Query

He also asked whether a person completing 4 years and 6 months of continuous service will get gratuity. I answered no, but he said it's wrong and mentioned that the person can get gratuity. Can anyone clarify my doubts?

Thanks a lot.

Usually, gratuity is paid along with his/her F & F settlement. If an employee does not come for his/her F & F settlement, then his/her gratuity is deposited with the Labour Welfare Fund Authorities.

Eligibility for Gratuity

Secondly, as per the judgment of the Madras High Court, if an employee has worked for 4 years and 240 days, then he/she becomes eligible for gratuity.

Seniors, please correct me if I am wrong!

Regards,
Barkha
