Legal Implications of Providing Official Documents to Employees

I am working in a manufacturing company where we have employees such as workers, helpers, and technicians. However, we don't provide any official documents to them. I would like to know if we might face any legal issues if we start providing them with appointment letters, confirmation letters, salary slips, etc.

It is rather difficult to believe that even now there are manufacturing firms existing without having appointment offers, confirmation slips, wage slips, etc. These are gross violations of labor laws. Presuming that you are covered under the relevant Standing Orders statute, the provisions regarding appointment/probation/confirmation are provided therein, and violating such provisions has serious adverse consequences. Similarly, a salary slip is a statutory necessity under the Payment of Wages Act 1936, and violating it means penal consequences. These are the consequences, and it is better to fall in line with the legal requirements.

We have both types of employees—casual and permanent. However, we do not provide documents to any employee. Salary slips are generated and stored in files but are not given to employees monthly; they can only be obtained if approved by seniors.
