Indeed, a nice presentation. If you add a sheet for Zone 0, 1, 2... then the presentation can be well utilized for training in the Petrochemical/Oil & Gas industry. Even if you don't include it, it's okay.

@ Vikram Singh,

The presentation is really good with rich technical content. Thanks for sharing it with the forum.

Now, can you please help me with the following:

In our plant, we have two 30KL Diesel Storage Tanks. This is the only installation where the chances of generating static electricity exist in our plant, as per my understanding.

1. What safety precautions do we need to ensure in the diesel storage area?
2. What precautions should be taken while unloading diesel from the tanker to the storage tank?
3. What precautions should be taken while pouring diesel into the vehicles from the pumping station?

With regards,
Dipil Kumar V

Dear Dipil,

I hope this information will give you some ideas -

All storage of flammable materials should be in line with NFPA regulations. Use appropriate fire extinguishing media.

Ensure there are no fires, open flames, or open lights, and display NO SMOKING and NO LOITERING signs. Grounding cables must be connected, and there should be a cleanup procedure for spills. Segregate and separate flammable materials and have a TREM Card with the tanker.

- Vehicle shutdown
- Proper tanker earthing
- Mobile phones switched off
- Spill collection kit
- All equipment in the pumping station and storage area should be flameproof

Use extinguishing media appropriate for the materials.

Thanks,
Vikram
