In order to provide grounding/earthing, we are using crocodile clamps during tanker unloading, solvent drum unloading, etc. Is there any standard specification for the same? Is it required to be CCoE approved?

Earth-Rite System for Grounding Electrostatic Charge

The Earth-Rite system is the appropriate method to ground the electrostatic charge. Normally, we start the activity by simply providing a crocodile clamp to the tanker or other required equipment. However, with this Earth-Rite system, we should ensure proper grounding through a lighting indication system.

Thank you for providing the details of the Earth Rite System. In our plant, we are currently ensuring earthing to diesel tankers in the traditional way only. Would it be advisable to install the Earth Rite System in this operation? What is the cost of installing it at one place? Please let me know.

I hope you have a better idea. Thank you for starting up this thread.

It can be used everywhere where static hazards are present. The problem with static electricity is the generation of sparks. Diesel has a flash point of about 62 degrees Celsius. It is classified as a Class B solvent. Hence, it will not catch fire at ambient temperature even if ignition is provided close to this material. Therefore, you may use it or not use it—no problem. The approximate cost is about 1.0 to 1.5 lakhs per unit.

Static Bonding and Grounding for Flammable and Combustible Fuels

Dear Dipil & Srinivasa Rao, see the attached 'Static bonding and grounding when handling flammable and combustible fuels.' We are using the same method in our camp. The bonding and grounding wire set with clamps is available in the UAE; it's cheap and best, and we can use it anywhere.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao, thanks for your Earth Rite RTR document. It's really a good one, and I will speak to my team about it.

Dear Abhay, I hope this fulfills your query. Keep on sharing.

Regards.
