Hello, is it compulsory for an employee to fill out the PF form if they want PF to be deducted? I have seen companies that do not require employees to fill out the PF registration form, yet PF is still deducted from their salary. Which form needs to be filled out for PF? Please guide me on this topic.

The ceiling limit of PF is ₹6500/-. PF contribution is submitted under these heads:

1. **A/c I**: 12% (Employee's Share)
2. **A/c I**: 3.67% (Employer's Share)
3. **A/c II**: 1.10% (Admin Charges)
4. **A/c X**: 8.33% (Pension)
5. **A/c XXI**: 0.50% (EDLI)
6. **A/c XXII**: 0.01% (Admin Charges on EDLI)

(2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 are the Employer's Share)

If the basic salary is ₹6500/-, then the employee's contribution will be ₹780/-. If the basic salary is less than ₹6500/-, then the employee's contribution will be 12% of the basic salary. If the basic salary is more than ₹6500/-, then it totally depends on the employee whether they want the deduction on the ceiling limit (₹6500) or 12% of their basic salary.

I hope this helps you.

Withdrawal Methods for PF

Is it compulsory to use a debit card or a money withdrawal form to withdraw money from an ATM/Bank? Well, I request you to visit the official website of EPF to know about the rules & regulations and all the conditions under the ACT. EPFO <link updated to site home>

Divya, Mr. Saxena has shared really good information, but I request you to please visit the official website of EPF because I believe this is the very first and best option to know about the conditions, rules, and regulations. If you want to learn more about it, I would suggest you follow the threads/posts on this subject and read regularly, which will enhance your knowledge and more.

Shri. Anil Arora Ji, Board Moderator,

Respected Sir,

Mr. Saxena Ji has shared really good information, but it is out of context to the query.

Also, his last sentence, i.e., "If the Basic is more than 6500/- then it's totally dependent on the Employee, whether he/she wants the deduction on the ceiling limit (6500) or 12% of their Basic" is wrong and misleading as to the fact of the law.

If the Basic is more than 6500/- at the time of joining the employment and the employee is not a member of PF before, in this case, only the employee has an option whether to go for PF or not. Also, to contribute to more than 6500, a joint request in writing to an officer not below the rank of APFC is necessary.

Regarding the answer to the query, Vishal Ji has given a correct answer. An employee who is becoming a member of PF has to fill Form 2, i.e., Declaration and Nomination Form. The employer has to take Form 11 from all the employees, whether they are members of PF or not. From this form, the employer has to determine whether the employee is eligible to join the PF or not.

This posting (in response to your posting) is made by me so that the members will come to know the exact position of the law and not to pinpoint your response.

I remain.
