Hi Guys, I have an employee who is the best performer; however, his salary increment is not satisfactory. He is planning to resign. I have asked him to hold on as I would speak to HR for an improvement in his salary.

Your query is difficult to respond to. What exactly are you looking for? You know his performance. You know the performance of others in your team. Depending on the relative performance and salaries, you can show how much more he is worth. Get information relating to market rates being paid by others. You don't even need a format. Just go and speak to the HR head and tell him what you feel. Your HR head will tell you what is possible and what additional data he will need. It also depends on other things like budgets, who decides salary levels, hikes, etc.
