Hello seniors, I'm working with a PSU, and I want to know under what laws/rules I would distribute uniforms to contractual cleaners and gardeners, as the permanent staff are already receiving them to bring about parity. Is there any law that will help me convince the management? Please help.

Thank you.

Leaving aside any laws/rules, it is good practice to issue uniforms to contractual staff as it maintains the image of your company and increases morale. This, in itself, is a powerful convincer. I would, however, suggest that you put to the contractors (in writing) that their final wages will be withheld until the uniform is returned in a clean condition.

Hope the above helps.

I appreciate your previous guidance, but simply relying on this reason may not be sufficient to persuade the management. My earlier proposal, which also highlighted the same issue, was not accepted. Are there any legal obligations imposed on employers regarding uniforms that could provide the management with a compelling reason to reconsider this matter?

I am eagerly awaiting your assistance. Thank you for your help.

Warm regards
