I resigned from my job in June 2012. During my employment, ESI and PF were covered. I received the PF amount. However, I am unsure about the validity period of ESI coverage, specifically how many months and years it lasts. ESI has covered me for the past 8 years of my service. I have obtained a Bechan card from ESI for myself, my mother, and my father.

Could you please provide detailed information along with related circulars and government orders?

There is a contributory period for ESIC from April to September and October to March. The beneficiary period is from January to June and July to December.

If one has made contributions from October '12 to March '13, she will receive benefits until December '13.

We cannot stop the ESIC contributions if an increment takes place in January; we have to continue deductions until March.

I hope your query is resolved. All the best to you.

Mr. Negidi is right, and further, I would like to draw your attention to the example for better understanding:

Ceiling Value: 15,000 w.e.f. 1/5/2010

Explanation: A person whose salary is more than 15k per month at the time of joining will not be a member of ESI, so no deduction will be there. Suppose someone is getting 14,500 in the month of April 2010, and his salary increased by Rs. 1,000 w.e.f. May 2010 onwards; now his salary is 15,500. He will continue to be a member up to Sep 2010, and deductions will be made on 15,500 until Sep 2010. After that, he will be exempted from ESI. Employees will be exempted from ESI after March or September if there is an increase in between.
