I was recruited by my company as an associate software engineer. After one week, a few of us were transferred to the hardware division. So, on the experience certificate, will it be mentioned as an associate software engineer or hardware engineer?

Since you are referring to the Experience Letter, I presume you have resigned. In general, there's scope for flexibility in mentioning either of the designations—software engineer or hardware engineer. However, it depends significantly on the duration you spent in each role. If you worked as a Hardware Engineer only for a few months after more than a year as a Software Engineer, then you can visualize what would be given logically.
Also, you can try talking to your boss and HR and ask for the appropriate designation to be mentioned depending on what your next job is—software engineer or hardware engineer. All the best.

Thank you, everyone. We were recruited for the associate software engineering post (from the campus). At the beginning of the training itself, we were sent to the hardware division and received training in the hardware domain. Since then, I have been with the hardware team.
