Hi Everyone,

Can anyone provide information on whether we can use binding wire for tying planks in scaffolds? If so, could I also know the diameter of the binding wire as per the IS standard? It would also be great if anyone could provide the IS specification document for scaffolding.

Thanks and regards,

Hi everyone,

Thank you very much for the replies. I got some information from your valuable feedback. However, one thing is still confusing me. On the scaffolding, we use a wooden plank as a base. Can this wooden plank be tied up with binding wire to the scaffolding? If yes, what should be the size/diameter of the binding wire? If not, what are the other types of wires that we can use? I apologize if I am asking many questions. I just want to make myself clear. Please do not think otherwise.

Thanks and regards,
Vamsi Akunuri

For tying the wooden planks/boards, rope is preferred. I have not come across with the tying of binding wire. IS 2750 (scaffold) does not specify on the use binding wire for such use. Pon

I don’t have any such HIRA for IT sector. Go thru IS 15656 - Hazard Identification and Risk Analysis - Code of Practice. You can pick up the concepts and tailor it to your needs. Pon
