Understanding the Scheme Certificate Issued by EPFO
This is Syeda, and I want some more knowledge or clarity on the Scheme Certificate issued by EPFO. As per my understanding, an employee can apply for a Scheme Certificate from EPFO after completing 10 years of service. Can anyone help me with this query?
Thanks in advance.

It is not mandatory that one should complete 10 years to obtain a Scheme Certificate. For individuals who have reached 10 years of PF membership, taking the Scheme Certificate is the only option when leaving the company. An employee who has completed 10 years of service may choose a Scheme Certificate instead of withdrawing the pension fund contributions made by the employer. If the employee wishes to do so, they will receive a certificate detailing their service with the company. This certificate can be submitted to the EPF through the new company the employee joins, allowing the past service to be considered for calculating pensionable service. In the event of the Scheme Certificate holder's death before joining another company, their spouse and children will receive a pension.
