Hi HR Fraternity, I pursued my Master's in HR from India and worked there for 2.5 years. After that, I came to the UK to study a Master's in HR (CIPD). For the past two years, I have been working in HR with a retail organization in a generalist role.

Returning to India: Impact on Career

In the next six months, I plan to return to India, and I am curious about how my UK degree and work experience will be perceived in the Indian HR job market. Could someone please shed some light on the salary package I should expect?

I have students who graduated from the University of Bolton and are now working in the HR field in India. I believe that multinational corporations (MNCs) would value your qualifications and experience highly. Exposure to diverse cultures and ethics is often more valuable than experience limited to just one country.

I am confident that experts in India can provide insight into the salary expectations you may have.

Thank you for your prompt response. Could I please ask whether the students are CIPD-qualified postgraduates and if they worked in the UK? I am of the same opinion that I might be well-received by the MNCs. However, my major concern is about the profile and the salary package that I should expect at this point. I am pretty sure that the management experience I have would be a valuable addition to the prospective organization.

Differences in HR Functions

There is a vast difference in how the HR function operates in the UK and India. Most importantly, cultural diversity and employment laws are major factors here. The employment laws that we have are very outdated and appalling; nothing governs the employee or their rights.

I will be happy if more professionals shed some light. I am looking forward to some more comments. Thank you very much for your time.

Many Thanks,
