Hi!

My name is Anatoliy Kim, and I am a student. I have an assignment about HR in the University and would like to ask for advice and guidance. I want to read as much as possible before starting to write the final paper, so I am seeking help in locating the materials.

The question is as follows:

Discuss the differences in human resource practices between small and large companies. Limit the discussion to the following subject areas:

- Compensation schemas
- Performance appraisal systems
- Career management policies

A small company is defined as "any company or enterprise with no more than 50 employees."

Additional considerations include:

- Examining how employees are influenced by financial and non-financial motivators
- Discussing the various pay packages that small organizations offer to attract employees
- Exploring how performance appraisal systems can be improved to aid employees' development
- Discussing how small companies manage employees' career plans and expectations, and how organizations approach the development of human resources

I aim to identify some general practices in each instance and evaluate their pros and cons.

I would appreciate any advice, guidance, or links to read. Thank you in advance.

PS: It is only the 3rd week as I study HR, and although I understand everything we have covered so far fully, I guess I don't even know about a lot of issues about HR. I am currently searching on my own, but there is a chance that I will miss something important just because I don't know what to look for. So, even if you mention the term or methodology without explaining it or giving a reference/link - it would be great.

Hi Kim,
Best way to understand the above topics would be to visit some companies in your country – do a primary research on the above to give you first hand understanding of the situation..as merely reading the topics may not suffice..as practices differ from country to country esp on Compensation & Benefits..
