Understanding Labour Licensing Requirements under Shops & Establishment Act for Multiple Offices - CiteHR

Dear All,

I am Mallesh, working as an Admin Executive in a reputed company. According to the state Shops & Establishment Act, we have to obtain a license from the Labour Commissioner of the respective state. If we have 10 offices in the same locality with different activities under the same company, is it necessary to obtain a labour license for each office?

Dear Mallesh,

In your case, you need to get your company registered under the Shop & Establishment Act by the Labour authority. If you have one single company with different activities, then study all the activities, and they should not be connected to the manufacturing process. Refer to the Factories Act. If not, then one license under the Shops Act will suffice.

Dear Mr. Bhushan,

Thank you for your reply. It is not under the Factories Act. We have already registered the main company, and we also have 10 offices in the same locality with different addresses and activities. Kindly advise me if it is required to obtain registration for all offices.
