Challenges in My HR Role at a Software Company
This is Ravi, working in Hyderabad for a software company as an HR. I am the only person responsible for all duties like salary dispatch, leaves, absenteeism, recruitment, client meetings, query solving, and some other duties. I have encountered a problem: we don't have an access card system in our company, and the company MD can't provide it. I joined this company in December, and the company started in June, but we got registered in November 2011. Now, we don't have projects. When I joined, our company staff was 60, and now it is 15, just because we don't have projects, they left.
As we are new in the industry, we don't have Professional Tax, PF, ESI, or a list of holidays. We are working on government holidays like 26th January and 15th August, etc., and there are no leaves as well. If anybody takes leaves, it is considered absent. I don't understand what our management wants to do, whether they want to stay in the market or quit.
They encourage employees to go for interviews with other companies. I can't understand what they want to do. There is no landline, and for calls I have to make, I call from my mobile, and they will not pay for that. I am getting bored in the office, and my MD said they have completed training for me. Actually, I am experienced in marketing for around 5 years, and I don't know what they have trained me for. Whenever I give suggestions that the company should be maintained like this or like that, they will not accept it. What should I do regarding this? There are some things I can't express here, but if anybody gives their numbers, I can tell more than this.
Please suggest what to do. I am totally helpless regarding my company.
Thanks & Regards,
Rama

Like B. Saikumar suggested, just GET OUT OF THERE ASAP. The sooner you can, the better for you. The more you delay, the bigger the problem you can face during interviews—justifying your role and responsibilities vis-a-vis the period you spent in this company. Also, since you say you have 5 years of experience in Marketing, you shouldn't have landed in this company in the first place. You should have done your own due diligence about the company before joining. However, use this experience to make a better choice in the future. Also, I suggest you DON'T mention this situation as the reason for leaving during interviews. That doesn't mean you have to lie—you don't need to. Just handle it tactfully.
Addressing Recruitment Responsibilities
Coming to you being asked to 'recruit for new staffing', I'm not sure how to address this issue—just try to do your best until you leave. All the Best.
