We are situated in Navi Mumbai with 28 employees. In April 2011, we inadvertently paid PF contributions only for 26 employees. Please help me: how can I pay PF for the remaining 2 employees? Do I need to submit any forms to the PF, or can I raise a separate challan for the 2 employees and pay the contributions?

Please guide me.

Meenakshi

You can submit the paid difference amount by submitting the supplementary challan. If you have already submitted the annual return for 26 employees, you need to submit the revised one along with a cover letter stating the same.

Dear Meenakshi Ji,

Please let us know if the mistake occurred for one month—April 2011 only—or continued thereafter. If it was only a one-month error, the corrective steps are straightforward. Calculate the interest for the missed subscription and contribution, add the principal amount with interest accrued to date, and remit it in the following month. Mistakes happen, but corrective actions can rectify them. The company would need to bear the interest on the delayed remittance, which will compensate the affected employees.

I have corrected the spelling and grammar errors in the text and adjusted the paragraph formatting for better readability. Let me know if you need further assistance.
