Can anyone confirm whether the Maharashtra state government has declared a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act in Mumbai for the 16th of February 2012 municipal corporation elections? I am asking this as different people are expressing varying opinions.

yes, Govt of Maharashtra has declared official holiday on 16th Feb 2012. Notification is attached for your reference. regards, Kamal P Pune

This notification does not indicate whether the holiday is under NI Act. Hence whether the Banks are declared holiday or the banks will be working on 16th feb 2012. Kindly clarify

The notification i have posted is applicable only to commercial and Industrial establishments including shops to which the public holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act do not apply.
