Dear All, First time I am going to take a one-on-one session with the employees. I am seeking suggestions from seniors about what kind of questions we can ask and what kind of questions we should not ask. Please suggest me. Thanks in advance for your valuable time and response.

If you have spent a reasonable amount of time in your organization, do not stick to a directive agenda. Start with a casual chat, pick up on hints, and get to know more about the staff. If you are new, you can still initiate a casual conversation by discussing experiences, hobbies, likes, etc. You can then find common ground and continue the conversation.
Always seek input from the Heads of Departments (HODs) if they require specific information from an employee and tailor your interaction accordingly. I have consistently followed this approach and, as a result, have gained a lot of insight into the staff.

Hi Jhuma, thanks for your valuable time and response. It would help me connect with employees. I don't have any specified agenda for one-on-one meetings with employees. I would like to have a casual discussion with them about the work environment and their expectations regarding HR support.

If you are new to this company, no one will come to you with problems because it is your first chat, and the feedback will be positive only. After spending some time and observing, only then will they come up with problems. First, try to increase confidence in yourself so that they will automatically come to you to share everything.
