Hello,
I have heard that there are some companies who do not mention salary break up in appointment letter.Recently I have heard of an incidence where the employer has asked the HR dept to write in the Appointment letter a clause which will say "COMPENSATION- Details of the salary break up is attached in Annexure 1." but not to provide the employees with the annexure.
Is it really legal?

nO you got the info wrong many companies dont mention salary break up in OFFER LETTER and NOT IN APPT LETTER,, they sometimes might just mention AS DISCUSSED. to avoid employee misusing offer letters
but i feel this is stupid , dupid and foolish because tomorrow employer or employee can take advantage of as discussed and quote high/lower commitment given at time of interview.

Dear Ravi,
I am well aware that many companies do not mention about salary in offer letter.Even we follow that strategy. But the incidence that I have mentioned is regarding Appointment letter. This company is writing down the salary in the resume of the employee which is being maintained in his/her personal file, but they are unwilling to mention it in appointment letter

Hi All,
In my view companies should mention salary breakup in employee appointment letter because the salary breakup is facilitated to the employee and employer to know how much part of employee salary comes in which head. theses salary heads help to save Income tax of employee.
Salary Breakup in appointment remove confusions of employee and satisfy his employee at his end.
