Hi friends,

I have completed my BA in English and am considering pursuing an MSc in Psychology through a distance education program. I would appreciate your support regarding the following:

(i) Only Annamalai University and Tamil Nadu Open University are options available. Which one is better? Why?

(ii) Will it be challenging to pursue an MSc in Psychology after completing my UG in English?

I welcome any other insights or advice on this matter.

Regards,
Raj

Dear Chanraj,

It honestly depends on what you intend to do after you get an MSc degree in Psychology. Firstly, Annamalai courses are subpar. They lack formal structure, their study materials are questionable, and their exam patterns are almost a joke. In a nutshell, their course is a complete waste of time and money. Additionally, a professional course like this is best suited for full-time enrollment if you wish to pursue a career in Psychology. Don't worry about the English usage in most textbooks; it's easily comprehensible and not a concern. However, it is essential to understand that a distance program in Psychology is essentially useless unless you have at least 7-8 years of working experience in a social work sector. (Note: The Mental Health field may not allow you to work without a basic degree in Psychology).

Currently, the premier institutes for pursuing a Masters (Science) program are Christ University in Bangalore or CIPA in Ranchi. Both have entrance interviews and are highly competitive. Christ University boasts its dedicated Research Wing, a nine-floor 800-ft building equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The faculty is exceptional, comprising Ace honor professors and doctorates, and the university offers MSc programs in Clinical, Counseling, and Industrial Psychology. I recommend conducting further research on these options if Christ University is not suitable. The fee for the program is around 1.4 lakhs for two years.

All the Best,
Regards,

I've completed my bachelor's in psychology and now wish to pursue a master's in organizational psychology through distance learning. I would like to inquire if Madras University allows students to pursue a distance degree concurrently with a regular course from another university.
