Very good suggestion, Amit. It would be nice meeting HR-related people in Mumbai. I would prefer a weekend and some central location. Maybe Dadar or something like that so that central as well as western area-located HR members both find it convenient.
Sure Savita, You are right, we need more support from all other members to help seet up the logistics, sponsorers etc.

Hi all,
You don't need a sponsor for these small meets; everyone can contribute for the meet and share the expenses. For more detailed information, you can contact Kiran, Geeti, Nitin, etc. They would brief you on the meet management.
All the best!

Dear All,
Let's give it a kick start by meeting for the first time to discuss:
1) Organizing committee
2) Finding out possibilities of inviting speakers going forward
3) Identifying companies that can sponsor our event, especially training companies and HR solution providers who are always keen for such events. We can also explore other options.
4) Discussing developmental activities for ourselves
5) Arranging training product overviews
6) Planning for the coming quarter
Above all this, we will "Share Best Practices."
Date: 6th July 07 (Friday)
Venue: Hotel Sea Princess Lobby, and then we move to their coffee shop. (Expenses to be borne by all attendees)
Time: 1900 hrs to 2000 hrs
Kindly let me know via phone your name, company name, and contact number so that I can collate the information and expect you there.

Hey Guy!
Just simple guys... we all first went for a volunteers' meet, which was more for getting to know each other and fixing up the agenda for a proper HR meet. So, first of all, we put down a list of volunteers and then met to decide about how to proceed in the next meet.
Just check out the complete thread on the post "HR CITE MEETING IN NCR," and you will find the answer.

Dear Amit,
Since we will all be meeting for the first time, I suggest keeping it an informal meet. Once we all meet, we can discuss and plan the next meet. Organizing speakers, workshops, or talks takes effort, time, and money, and it's very disappointing if members don't turn up. I think we need to give at least 10 days' notice to members to plan a meet. We all have to schedule accordingly.
I also find that Juhu is very out of the way, especially for us who commute from the central side. It need not be a fancy place; it could be at Barista or CCD at Dadar, Sion, Bandra. First, let's familiarize ourselves with each other. Suggestions are most welcome.

Hi All CiteHR MumbaiKar Team!
At the outset, it's great to know that you all are also planning to have a joyful and useful get-together so as to have a formal HR meet in the future. Please accept our best wishes from CiteHR Delhi/NCR Team as well! 😊
One suggestion is that please try to be a little informal during this initial meet, and then you may formalize the agenda, plan, and activities from the next meet onwards!

Dear all,
Sure, let's meet at the Shivaji Park Barista. Sanjana, thanks for calling me up and sharing your details. I really appreciate that.
On request, it seems Friday, the 6th of July 07, doesn't seem to be manageable for the rest of the team. Can we move it to Saturday at 6:00 pm? Please add your views. My suggestion is we stay with 7:00 pm on Friday, 6th July 07.
Savita: I completely agree; we need to meet informally to take the meeting forward. All the next steps would be thought of and decided then.

Dear All,
This is an initial meeting to get acquainted with each other. I have already spoken to the current Drishti organizer, and it would be beneficial to join the existing citehr forum.
In my opinion, we should meet today. Moving forward, the next step would be to meet the other citehr colleagues in a more organized forum. Here, we can have sponsors and speakers discuss current challenges and new ideas.
Please feel free to share your opinions.

CANCELLED AGAIN
Hi All,
Today's meet at Barista is cancelled again as only members present today are going to be Amit, Sanjana, and me. It's really very disappointing. All the excitement is washed out!
I know corporate life is hectic, but it's frustrating to see that all the Mumbai CiteHR members except the three of us can't even take out an hour off to meet their fellow professionals. It was not so much necessary to have an elaborate agenda and panel discussions on the very first offline meet. The objective was to have an informal ice-breaking meeting.
Warm regards,
Nikhil

Hi everyone,
I would just like to give a small suggestion. Mr. Nikhil is absolutely right that we can take out an hour from our busy schedule for a meeting, but sir, if we have such a meeting on any weekend, then I guess most of the members would surely come. I can say this from my side because if people like me have to travel for an hour for the meeting, we totally need to take out 3 hours after a hectic schedule of 9 hours.
I would request initiators to think again about this and replan a meeting on any weekend.
Thanks for the consideration.

Hi all,
My view is that the weekend, especially on Sunday, would be a better option as Saturday is not off for everyone. Moreover, plan it in advance, say at least two weeks ahead, so people can make their schedules accordingly.

Thanks for considering my suggestion, Nikhil :)
I believe many members are not even aware of this meeting. Therefore, I suggest that we do not rush with the offline meeting. Instead, we should decide on a date after a week or two and post about it. Additionally, rather than keeping it completely informal, we should have a small agenda. Many people think that instead of attending an informal meeting, it would be more productive to let others decide and go for a formal meeting.
If we have a specific topic to discuss, perhaps about our next meeting, members will be more likely to come forward and attend. I think this approach will work well, and members will show interest in participating.
Thank you for including me in the discussion.

NEVER SAY DIE!!!
YO...YO...YO...to Sanjana, Amit, Neha & Nikhil.
I have gone through this entire thread and can feel the FIRE in you GUYS to make this offline meet happen in MUMBAI TOO. Great IDEA.
GUYS, please accept my suggestions, only if you like them. So, here we go....
First of all, you should make sure that all the MUMBAI members are aware of this OFFLINE MEET. The best way is, you GUYS to start PMing Mumbai members, informing them about this thread and ask them to revert if they are interested.
Next, Do not decide the date in a HURRY. Take enough time like at least two or three weeks. Once you get people's opinion, maintain a database with members' contact details and call them to inform about the meets.
GUYS, believe me, organizing an offline meet is NEVER EASY and it won't be possible without active and enthusiastic volunteers. So, before going ahead and taking the BIG decision of organizing an offline meet, form a committee of volunteers and you guys decide on proceedings like the agenda and stuff.
If you can check out a thread called HR CITE MEETING - DELHI/NCR, you can understand how we organized it. Not asking you to follow the same way, but you can at least get some idea.
Finally, I am sure that you GUYS are GONNA ROCK...provided you people do not lose your ENTHU to make it HAPPEN.

Yo, yo, yo! Here we are on track. I can see certain people chipping in with their mobile numbers and willingness to contribute. So, the next step is to "form the database." Hi All,
I believe it is a great idea. Count me in. I do not mind helping find sponsors or contributing if all plan to contribute and meet. I do agree with the idea that the meeting should be in a central location, a place like Dadar, so that maximum HRians can attend :). In case you want, a few of us can form a committee and take ownership of the event. All those interested in forming a committee, please email me at dshr_2004@yahoo.co.in.
Thanks for the effort, Amit.

Amazing response,
Now we need planners to come forward and contribute. We have Mr. Rushikesh Bandekar - Head of Technology and Operations at "Leranet," a division of IL&FS Financial Services Ltd., ready to share insights on "Just-in-Time Training Tools." This would be a one-hour presentation. Also, we might get affiliated with India's largest business newspaper for all future events.
For that, guys and gals, we need complete focus and persistence. Let's make it big! Please come forward to meet initially to understand each other's strengths and create teams who will take up divisional responsibilities.
Cheers! Amit Pradhan - 98201 48877
PS: Find attached the updated list. Sanjna, your name was mentioned twice, once as Sanjna and once as Sampada. I have made the necessary changes.

Less than 24 hours and 11 names in the sheet. Too good... But remember, it is just the beginning... you will have more members chipping in :) . So, do not make any decisions as of now....
Wait for 1 or 2 more days for most of the members to chip in. Here, someone should take the initiative of keeping a close look at the thread and answering the members' queries. Someone who has been in the loop since the evolution of this thought could do it effectively. So, you guys decide who it could be...
Next step is you should form a group of volunteering committee that would actually make things happen for offline meets in Mumbai.
Guys... we rock... yo.. yo.. yo.

It would really help if everyone mentions their location within Mumbai so that in case there are any members from nearby areas, they could form small groups to approach nearby companies for sponsorship.

Hello to all active members of Mumbai Citer meet,
I have added my name to the Excel sheet. I tried to figure out which one was the latest with all additions. I suggest that we put the number of members in the message body. Currently, there are 17 members.
Also, I am available for any help. I can surely arrange for a speaker for a talk of about 45-60 mins. I also feel that some location near Dadar or Bandra will be good for everyone to attend. I suggest that members who have attended such meets should help in locating the venue.
Cheers. Count me in.

Hi Amit,
That's great news. I was also eagerly waiting for the same event. It will be great if it's on the weekend; any location will do. Thank you for arranging this event. If it's decided, please send the date and time as well.
I am looking forward to your reply ASAP.

Firstly, thank you all for showing interest. However, we would expect more participation to happen. Here is a surprise!! We wouldn't be naming our meeting as a FORUM meeting but an "EVENT" based activity. The first event will be held on September 7. We will start with an outbound activity followed by a debriefing session. Our suggestion is that we should not miss discussing topics related to the Learning & Development department. Please send in your suggestions at the earliest for all the burning issues.

Hi all,
Good News!!!! Yesterday, the volunteer team of 6 people met at Bandra for an informal meeting to plan and arrange for the "HR Monsoon Event."
We would like more people to join our group to organize a successful get-together to share knowledge and collectively solve HR issues or concerns.
Sanjna, our volunteer, is managing the database of tentative participants (HR club members). Those interested, please either post your details on the site or email at sanjnad7@gmail.com (if you want to keep it confidential).
We want to finalize a topic for the meeting, something that is a burning issue for all HR professionals or some basic day-to-day problems that need a quick fix. Some contributions from my side:
1. How can I make my office work environment exciting?
2. How can I improve my people management skills?
3. What are the bad indicators that can be visually detected without conducting ESS?
Can I have the rest of the team come up with suggestions/topics?
LET'S GET TOGETHER TO HELP EACH OTHER SUCCEED AS HR PROFESSIONALS.

Meghana

It is a good initiative. List all probable participants. Initial response could be surprising. Identify committed volunteers. Invite a Leader from the industry. Share his/her experience.
We had done this in Chennai. We are consolidating and growing into a powerful group of Practicing HR professionals. We have named this as HRSangamam. We had around five sessions so far, interesting ones. We have very young, enthusiastic, committed members building up this forum.
All the best to you. Will be glad to share through the net.

Where are you all? Only one post today! Please do not let the fire die out! Please share more ideas to make the event rocking! I may be able to help bring in sponsorship, but for that, I need someone to initiate the process with me.
I also want to know if we are planning to invite someone from the industry to present a lecture on any topic.

Hi there,
It's been great working here and everyone is meeting deadlines as expected. The numbers are increasing steadily.
I am putting together a list of people who would like to volunteer for the upcoming monsoon event. Please find the attachment for more details.
Following Meghana's initiative, I suggest implementing a "Buddy System." All we need to do is inform at least two of our friends about the event. I hope you all agree with the idea of the Buddy System.
Let's arrange a meeting to discuss this further.
For those who have not yet filled out the forms, please copy the link below and paste it into your browser to enroll yourself:

Hi there,
Just to conduct Knowledge Transfer (KT) :)
SurveyMonkey is a website that helps you conduct surveys online. For instance, if you wish to conduct a survey on Employee Satisfaction (ES), you can create your own webpage with specific criteria and host it on the web using SurveyMonkey. Employees can then input their information, and you can analyze the data.
Filling out the form is sufficient for CiteHR, no need to register for SurveyMonkey.

Friends,
Can I suggest an idea? Perhaps one of us can use the telecon system, and we all can dial in from different parts of Mumbai to agree on some actions instead of just five people meeting in Dadar. I am as eager as the rest of you to meet up and share ideas and knowledge. I believe that via a telecon, we all will be able to decide on the way forward in a much better manner.
Amit/Meghana/Vipul, your views on this, please? We could have the telecon next week, perhaps on Monday or Tuesday.
Thanks,
Cheers! :)

Thank you for playing a spoilsport 😢....(Sorry guys, pardon my tone). CCD plan canceled again because of poor response!!!! Only Sanjna, Ryan, and I confirmed for the meeting.
Come on guys/girls, Amit has come up with this wonderful concept of all HR professionals coming together but is not getting the required support. Mumbai CiteHR team is certainly not able to set a high benchmark for the others.
Vinod and Drisht team members have also not replied to my posts 😲😲.

Dear All,
I was all set to come to CCD on Saturday when I called up Sanana and came to know that the meeting had been cancelled. I hadn't read the post of Meghana about confirming on this thread about the presence; hence, I didn't. I'm really very sorry. Let's replan the meet, and this time we'll take confirmation on the phone as not everyone always sees or checks this thread. Sorry again.

Hi Friends,
I am sorry to hear about the cancellation. Well, Amit, if you remember, I had suggested that perhaps we can use the telecon option for the first meeting, which would be easier for people to participate in. Generally, when we plan to meet in a physical location, it might be difficult for people staying far away to attend the initial meeting. However, once the framework is in place, we can set the agenda for the next steps and determine who can take on which responsibilities. I still think having a teleconference is a good option. I am looking forward to meeting all of you CiteHRians out there.
Amit, please look into this and see if we can arrange for one.
Cheers! :) :) :) Disha

Ok...
The core group meeting scheduled last week was canceled, so it's in the past! Please leave it.
Going forward, I would like to suggest that only those interested in such a meeting should send a suggestion (maximum 2) for a topic that they would like to see discussed during the main meeting to:

(I don't have other IDs)
The topic can be suggested based on the need of yourself/the group to be aware of the topic. It would also be nice if you can suggest resource people/experts who would be willing to address the group.
A request - Kindly do not suggest a particular problem you are currently dealing with, since the online forum is here for this purpose.
If you guys agree with this, then send your suggestions latest by 6th August to the above IDs. Based on the suggestions received, the core group will then decide on a topic for the subsequent group meeting.
Any other suggestions are welcome.

Ryan

Dear Ryan and all members of Cite HR,
I have suggested having a telecon instead of a meeting for the first time as it is an easier way for us to come together. What is your opinion on this? 😉
The topics I plan to address are:
1) How to become better HR Managers
2) Moving beyond being a strategic partner/dealing with ambiguity.
For those who find it more convenient to dial in rather than meet in person for the first time to establish an agenda, please share your thoughts with me at baratenator@gmail.com. I will then attempt to arrange a teleconference with the assistance of the previous coordinators (Amit, Meghna, Sanjna...).
Cheers! 😊😊😊

A telecon? While it sounds good, I am skeptical since people don't seem to be able to make the time to meet up or even email their recommendations to me or Sanjana about suitable topics. I am not too sold on this. If others are willing, then I'm in too.

How about we attend this so that we get a better idea of what we want to do, then spend an hour or so after the program in the coffee shop, and we can then talk shop? 😉🙂

Hi Folks,
I think it's high time that we get down to brass tacks and organize the confluence of HR professionals in Mumbai. I was nursing an injury, hence couldn't participate in the discussions earlier. :(
For the first phase, we need to form a core team of members who can take out time to meet. Please let me know who all are interested and can meet this Saturday. It would be in the central part of Mumbai, say in Dadar at Cafe Day or Dadar Pritam.
Cheers,

Can anyone arrange for a place to meet and give us the available dates? We can first meet to decide what we should be doing forward with the opportunities. An CITE-HR Mumbai Chapter will help many of us in contracting and contacting. Need help from those who have the place. We can contribute to all the overheads.

Hi Ryan, Sanjana, Kenn, and all,
I am delighted to know that you are all keen to meet up today!! 😄
Today is Ganesh Chaturthi, and please can we meet tomorrow evening if it is not inconvenient for you all.
[Ice breaker] Have thought of an innovative one for this session.
I am sure we all know each other in this forum by way of interacting or reading the postings by the members, and perhaps this would be a unique meeting in an unprecedented way as all members know something about others or at least have some idea about the person.
Therefore, all the members who participate in this forum have this innovative ice breaker:
All members, when they enter the venue, are NOT supposed to say their respective names to anyone. All they need to do is to enter the names on the paper, which would be kept confidential. They would be given tags like A, B, C, D, etc.
As all the members settle down at the table, they would have the paper in front of them, which would have all the names of the people present.
Now, one by one, all the members would introduce themselves without giving out their names for two minutes. The members are allowed to fake their respective backgrounds or give a fictitious story about themselves.
All the members present have to guess the real names!! And the first three winners get the prizes, and the person who gets the least score (the right name) gets the prize too.
I am inclined to refrain from HR-related discussions, especially in the first meet, and rather focus on getting to know each other first.
What do you say, folks?
Cheers,
Rajat

Cheers,
Rajat

Dear Amit,
It's a great idea. We should all meet as we have built up a virtual network. Now, it's time to have one-on-one interactions with all the members. What do you suggest? Let me know your reply.

Hi Rajat,
Pleasure talking to you the other day. I like your icebreaker, and I will suggest a variation to you - offline... Let it be a surprise if we use it. :)
Dear All,
Since yesterday did not work out, let's look at meeting on Sunday, 30th Sep 07, at 5 p.m. at Dadar - Gelatos. It is near to CCD and is quite empty most of the time.
On Saturday, 29th Sept 07, MTHR is organizing another full-day meet at Andheri (E) on the topic of nurturing geniuses. If anyone is interested in coming, please email me your id, and I will send you the details. Myself, Sanjna, and probably Rajat will be attending this meeting.
See you there or on 30th Sep.

Hi friends,
My name is Harish Kumar from Uttarakhand. I am currently working with M/s Shreya Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd. in Roorkee. If this meeting is to continue, we can learn more about HR functions because it is a vast field. How to arrange it and what would be the hierarchy?
Thank you,
Harish

Hi, it's a great idea. I have already sent a text, but I still feel July is too far away, and we will miss out on an entire quarter. If you have a smaller start also, it'll be good because you'll have genuine and committed people for the cause.
Do let me know in case you require any assistance in organizing.

Vijayita

Dear All,
This is to inform you about the new offline HR group that we have recently formed. It has originated from CITEHR on 4th April 2009. Please do look at the 2 page newsletter, especially the photograph of enthusiastic 90+ people who came together.
Genesis of Mumbai HR Meet:
-For past many years a need was felt and expressed by many HR professionals about a human connect, face to face offline forum/ platform that brings them together from various industries, levels and areas of work. There had been many spurts of efforts done in past to bring them together, but the efforts fizzled out after some time.
-Therefore a concrete decision was taken and initiated by Neeraj Agarwal to start an offline professional body on 4th April 09. Rohan then joined with his expertise in database & list management and communication. People were connected by direct means including email, SMS and phone calls. It was realized that posting on a site does not lead to concrete offline events. It needs human touch. An unprecedented response was received for the initial planning event on 4th April 2009. More than 340 people expressed interest in attending. Only 166 could be confirmed and finally 98 persons showed up on the venue. The venue was organized complimentarily by Dipali from Neelkanth group.
-Thus this professional body got generated. The initial set of people and participants came from CiteHR online networking and knowledge sharing site.
-Jalpa Joshi & Kenneth Lewis then joined core facilitating team with a commitment to evolve and sustain this creative setup.
Vision:
-To have HR influence business leadership and create an ambience of growth and expression in their organizations.
Core objectives:
-To bring HR professionals together & make available to them a framework & platform for self expression, learning & growth for themselves & their organizations
-It would be like a second home where they can be themselves, they can share their issues, predicaments and get meaningful assistance
-It would conduct workshops, programs and event that will address most pertinent requirements of the members
-Create & build enriching, mutually benefitting relationships among various members
-Have events that are 100% engaging, participative, full of life, fun & learning
-Its events would be focused on transformational HR. This means helping HR professionals in evolving & building their departments and image as HR that transforms the organization to its next level. Thus the focus would be on areas such as organization development, culture change, employee engagement etc.
-This setup would be self sustaining and would sustain tests of time.
Further to the overwhelming response to the initial planning Mumbai HR meet on 4th April 2009 (originated from CiteHR), please find enclosed our first newsletter.
