If you ask me how welfare for a child came about, the simple answer is to motivate a child to engage in activities in order to receive something in return. Similarly, the welfare of employees aims to maintain high morale and motivation levels to retain employees for longer durations. Welfare initiatives need not always involve monetary rewards but can take various forms.
