Hi,

I recently got appointed as an HR Manager in a property development company. Now, I am considering an offer to work as a Trainer in an Education-related company and a Recruitment Consultant in an Indian MNC. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have regarding these opportunities.

Thank you.

Hi Sajad,

Why are you in a dilemma? These opportunities may knock the door many times, but you cannot always run after them, leaving behind what you currently hold. Here, too, it is the same case: many job opportunities will come, but it is up to you whether you want to do a mere job or you want to make a career. Please list down your strengths and interest areas and then go ahead and make a choice.

You should have given a little detail about how much total experience you have? What designation did you hold in your last job? Design your career path and then make your moves according to that; then it will become much clearer where and when to stop to add a chapter in your life for better growth.

Hope this resolves your query for now. Do let us know more about you so that we all can help you out of this dilemma.

Archna

Hi Archana,

Thank you very much for your valuable suggestions. Let me provide you with a brief overview of my education and experience. I hold a B.Pharmacy degree and an MBA with specializations in Marketing and HRM. I have accumulated a total of 5 years of work experience in Sales and Marketing within the corporate sector, spanning across industries such as pharma, telecom, and education.

Currently, I find myself in my first role within HR, and I am feeling quite confused and concerned about my career path. I am in great need of someone to guide and mentor me through this transition.

Thank you for your support.

Hi Sajad,

I have given my suggestions already. The choice is yours; we all can just help you out in making a choice, that is all. I do not want to tell you to go for a trainer or recruitment, as it may not give you a chance to think about your interest areas. Make a choice based on:

- Your career path
- Your strengths and interest areas
- Company's past performance and reputation
- Your growth in the company
- The monetary package (no matter how hard we try not to think of it, many of our decisions revolve around it)
- Other benefits

And go figure...

All the best. Any guidance you need, we will all be here.

Archna

Hi Archna,

Hope you are doing well.

(Note: Sorry for some grammar mistakes, studied from HBSE Board)

I just want to say that I have noticed many times that you have provided good advice for all the citehr members. Can you help me?

Currently, I am facing problems related to my career, and to date, I haven't received any good opportunities in my working life. After 12th grade, I had to join as a backend Executive in a small organization due to some financial problems in my family. In between, I completed my B.Com from Delhi University (correspondence). My second job was in a manufacturing firm, where I worked as a "FOE" for 2 years. Now, I am pursuing HRM from Symbiosis University (Correspondence) and working in a manufacturing firm as a Marketing Coordinator (Jan '11 to date).

However, I am not satisfied with this. I have applied several times for a HR Assistant or Executive position, but whenever I receive one, they are from recruitment or consultancy companies, which I do not prefer as there is no career growth (from my point of view). Currently, I do not have enough time for my practical training in HR.

Please advise me on this, as I do not want to waste my time and money.

Regards,
Monika

Dear Mr. Mir,

If you don't mind, could you please share the package details for the offers that have been extended to you?

Furthermore, if you are able to answer these queries, it might help guide your decision-making process:

1) Please identify what you like most.
2) Your interest in a specific domain.
3) What you aspire to become.

For instance:
1) I am an IT professional with an MCA degree. Since 2005, I have been involved in delivering services to the education industry in general management, covering HR activities, employee training and development, student admissions and counseling. I have also supported various departments such as facilities management, finance, IT, hostel, and catering.
2) My key strengths lie in managing people, getting things done, identifying hidden talent, and training.
3) I enjoy playing the game only at the top management level as I understand them very well.

In a similar manner, define what aligns with your interests that will shape your career path.

As Ms. Archana mentioned, creating your own career requires hard work and time.

Have a nice day.

With profound regards.

As-salamu alaykum Brother Khadir,

Well, your interests and mine are somewhat similar, and I started my career in the same way as you did. I have a degree in B.Pharmacy but have worked in the education industry. I love counseling, training, and delivering presentations. However, my present company did not give me any salary increase when I shifted from the sales domain to HR. In my training profile, I am getting almost a 15% hike. Actually, there isn't much work here as the company doesn't have a defined HR department.

JazakAllah khair

Wa alikum Salaam, Janab Mir Saheb,

Nice to hear about your past. If you know what you can do, then definitely you can succeed in your mission. However, you have to focus and concentrate, or else you will fail desperately.

For quite a long time, I have been concentrating on the attitude associated with human behavior as I have been studying human behavior at various age groups (children, teens, mid-age adults, and adults). I have learned many facts that help me to focus on how to become a behavior specialist. One fine day, someone started addressing me as a behavior specialist, and that happened in CITEHR.

My target audience is college students. I believe in training them because it is more difficult to train a student and produce desired results than training a mid-age adult or adult.

Now, I am looking for clients, especially educational institutions, whether they are medical, engineering, management, pharmaceutical, arts, or science colleges. I want to deliver my module on student behavior management, which I have already delivered to KBNCE (Gulbarga) students (2008 & 2009 passout batch), and the results were terrific.

Inshaa Allah, we will discuss more...

Hi all!

I am involved in pre-employment and post-employment screening, background investigations, reference checks, educational verifications, report making, exit interviews, sending business development proposals, fraud investigations, and file management. I am working as an employee verification executive and have a total of 4 years of experience. I have a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) degree but now I want to continue my career in HR General. Could someone please suggest a way for me to transition into an HR generalist role?

Dear Sajad,

A lot of correspondence has already taken place regarding your post. However, I would like to point out that there is nothing like "job planning." The concept of "career planning" does exist. Therefore, when making decisions, consider your career rather than just the job at hand or your future job.

Thanks,

I agree with Mr. Mr. Dinesh, as he rightly said there is only CAREER PLANNING................and you have to focus on the same. With profound regards
