Hello everyone, I have completed an MBA in HR. I have received a job offer from a hospital. I am considering whether I should accept it. Can I progress in the service sector? Is the service sector the right industry for a career in HR?

Please provide your insights.

Thank you,
BANDNA RANI

First of all, you have to clarify which sector you want to pursue. I don't think it's a bad idea to enter the service sector; every field has its own benefits and criteria. The choice is in your hands.

Hi Bandna Rani, There is nothing bad about joining the hospital. Your career growth depends on your job profile. Also, this is one of the best hospitals, and the structure will be like a corporate setup where you may have a lot of things to learn.

All the best.

I had worked with Apollo Hospitals in the HR department, and it provided ample opportunities to learn. If you are not interested, then no problem, they will have someone else.

Dear Bandna,

I had worked with Apollo Hospitals in the HR department, and it provided enough opportunity to learn. In my opinion, an HR person should have experience in both service and manufacturing areas. Both areas offer different experiences but are good platforms to learn something new and diverse.

So, consider joining Apollo Hospitals. Best of luck.

Dear Ms. Bandna Rani,

Please consider my suggestions as a priority as you are entering the medical field. Working in the hospital industry comes with unique challenges and considerations.

1) Every job presents its own set of challenges, but working with medical professionals can be particularly demanding due to their specialized attitudes.
2) It is crucial to streamline the recruitment process, as identifying hidden talent in medical professionals requires a deep understanding of their field. Avoid hiring individuals who may not contribute effectively.
3) Finalize pay and benefits during the interview stage to avoid any misunderstandings. Compensation should reflect performance.
4) Ensure that all staff, including nurses, ward boys, technicians, and others, are dedicated to their roles and do not engage in activities that could disrupt hospital operations.
5) Resolve issues objectively and logically, without bias.
6) Foster positive relationships with all team members and support their growth with integrity.

In every environment, there are both challenges and opportunities. Focus on nurturing positive influences and addressing negative elements swiftly to create a harmonious workplace.

Wishing you a successful career ahead.

Warm regards.

Dear Badna Rani,

It depends on us to see the glass half filled or half empty, so go ahead with the coming opportunities (opportunities never wait for anyone). Everything (tangible or intangible) has a boon and curse, and we have to tackle it positively to turn it into a boon.

One of my female friends had worked with a hospital in Pune as an HR and gained tons of experience, as well as faced lots of problems (union problems, blue-collar worker problems, new policies problems, etc.). If you need any guidance from us, let me know via personal message, and I will provide you with our contact number so you can speak to her. Handle it tactfully and make your way easier.

Don't worry, be happy, be brave, and seize the good opportunities.

The advice by Mr. Khadir and Yasmin is worth considering. You will have to grab the opportunity and prove yourself, as there are plenty of HR professionals in the market. Best wishes.

Dear Mr. Amit,

Do you think that we all are management gurus? Why do you want us to contact somebody and pay them for just receiving suggestions? If you are not in a position to suggest something based on your experience, whatever you had learned in your professional career, please do suggest the best on your own, or else don't suggest us to write to anybody.

According to me, this is the best site to discuss issues related to HR and more. Perhaps you should gain more knowledge and convert that into wisdom that can lead you to a successful path.

Khadir

Dear Ms. Banda Rani,

Could you please let us know about the job description so that I can suggest proportionately? I am not able to understand the aspects of ORGANIZING ACTIVITIES and SPONSORSHIP. What was the package you were offered?

HR is not just about RECRUITMENT, RETENTION, PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL; it goes beyond that. Kindly reply in detail.

With profound regards
