Understanding the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC)

A Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) is a type of ad hoc Parliamentary Committee constituted by the Indian Parliament. Mandated to inquire into a specific subject, a JPC is formed either through a motion adopted by one House and concurred by the other, or through communication between the presiding officers of the two Houses. The members are either elected by the Houses or nominated by the presiding officers. As with other parliamentary committees, members are drawn from different groups. The strength of a JPC may vary, with the Lok Sabha's share being double that of the Rajya Sabha.

Dear Satish, Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) is organised for detail investigation of 2-G Spectrum. In that committee both MP (Lok Sabha & Rajya sabha) are involved. With Regards, Vineet.

Understanding the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) Probe

The JPC Probe is an investigation, especially by a legislative committee, into suspected illegal activity. It has no judicial powers and cannot penalize or charge anyone.

Role of the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court is the supreme judicial authority in India, and its decisions are final and binding on the convicts.

Hope your doubt is cleared.

Understanding the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC)

The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) is generally constituted from Members of Parliament (MPs) to probe a controversial national matter of importance, such as a scam or irregularity. The demand for a JPC is typically raised by the opposition, and the ruling party may agree to it, either willingly or unwillingly. Efforts are made to include MPs from all major political parties, usually in proportion to their strength in the house. Naturally, the individuals who become part of the committee gain importance, if they are not already notable figures.

The committee examines in detail the documentary evidence and the individuals involved. They can summon the concerned officers, ministers, etc., to ascertain the facts. The committee is usually given a time frame, which may be extended if required. In the end, the committee tables its report and recommendations in the parliament for discussion and subsequent action.

Dear Mr. Pon1965, very interesting information indeed. Could you please provide me with more details on this "cnp from blogs about the JPC:-"? I would like to read more and enrich myself. Your comments, when viewed in a larger context, are harder to understand as the vocabulary is exemplary and deserves special attention.

Furthermore, I humbly request you to use a common man's language to better connect with the public in a practical manner.

Thank you.
