Hi to all,

I am doing my MBA project in a well-known IT company in Mumbai. I have to design a new induction program for new employees. Kindly suggest new ideas to prepare the induction program as I need to change the existing one. Please provide me with new ideas, and if possible, please send me a copy of the induction program you have.

Your induction program should include a comprehensive overview of your company, detailing the various projects and their descriptions, the processes followed by the company, and the different policies in place. Additionally, it would be beneficial to have a senior member from your location meet with the new employees to have an informal chat, providing them with briefings about the project they will be joining.

Aspects of induction:

1. Site/office tour is a must.
2. Brief overview of the company (history, values, and brand value).
3. Introduction to the key stakeholders (in person or via a pre-recorded video talk).
4. Introducing the "who's who" in the company.
5. Company's do's and don'ts.
6. Overview of policies - HR and General.
7. Quiz to assess new joiners' knowledge retention.
8. Plan for the next few days for new joiners.

Hi Lians,

I don't know much about your organization, so I can't say what to do and not to do. What I can suggest is to introduce a buddy system in your induction program, and if possible, please develop a measurement system to check the effectiveness of the induction program.

Hi,

The induction program should be made as interesting as possible. This time of every new employee should be memorable. It is the first contact of an employee with an organization. Apart from making him/her familiar with the existing department's activities, try including some role plays, case studies on teamwork, and corporate etiquettes. You can also include educational/inspirational movies. Keep chocolates and candies available and reward them after every little activity. Across all levels, people enjoy these things.
