Hi All, I have joined a company where there are no proper HR policies. The present HR person is not an HR professional; he doesn't know anything about HR rules and regulations. For example, if an employee is on leave, I have to check with his manager if the person is on leave, and only then will they forward the mail to me. I find this very unprofessional. When I suggest to the HR that employees should CC their leave application to us, he hesitates. I want to initiate change in my company. Please help me with some very good HR rules and regulations that can be implemented for the benefit of both employees and the company. I aim to establish a solid HR platform in my company.

Regards,
Jansi

Dear Jhansi, please try to introduce the HR Policies module by module. You may start with the Leave Policy. Finalize it in a way that is suitable for all and meets industry standards. Once it is enforced, move on to another policy, such as Annual Holidays. Then address another aspect, like the Dress Code, and continue in this manner. Once you have finalized several policies, organize them into a manual.

Thank you.

I agree with Surendra Bhanot. You need to devise and implement these policies step-by-step by taking the management and employees into confidence; otherwise, a sudden introduction of new policies may not be accepted by the management/employees.

Leave Management Solution

Regarding your issue of leave management, you can simply take the help of Leave Cards. There will be a Leave Card for every employee wherein the total balance for the year is mentioned at the start of the year or upon joining. The employee, when taking leave, has to enter it into that card, get his manager's signature, HR's signature, and then submit it back to HR for processing. This approach also helps you to track attendance and manage payroll effectively.

Hi, my name is Archana, and I'm working as an HR executive in a service-oriented company. I have a similar problem in the present firm. I joined this company to learn some HR-related activities other than recruitment, but I'm unable to implement and, of course, learn anything. Can anybody suggest what I should do further?

Hi all, I want to formulate HR policy in my company. It's very small in nature, and I want to know how many leaves can be given to employees based in Delhi, as the company is located there. I would also like to know whether the Factory Act should be considered or if the Shop Establishment Act can be taken into account. If anyone has documents to support, please send them.
