Respected Sir/Madam,
I am a student of MBA (HR) Final year. I am very much interested in this field, and I am ready to work with any kind of company at any salary. I am confident that I can handle most HR activities well. However, the issue is with my communication skills, which are crucial for HR roles. Can you suggest how I can improve this skill in a shorter period of time?
Thank you.

Hi Savita,
I am also an MBA (HR) student, and the problem you are facing today is the same as I had. I agree that the above suggestions given by him are fruitful, but I suggest that reading newspapers can't improve your communication skills. I am telling you this through my experience; read newspapers for your knowledge, but for improving communication, you should read fiction, stories, etc., and that too of your interest.

Hi All,
Good communication results from the following foundations:
1. Interest in people - smiling face, being approachable, helpful attitude, trusting people, being trustworthy.
2. General & Professional Knowledge - Lack of knowledge forces people to keep quiet during discussions.
3. Expressing yourself fully with proper body language.
4. Language skills.
5. Reading books, novels, newspapers, magazines, etc.
The priority is exactly this. English language skills are not as important as the other issues. However, the general impression is that whoever can blabber well in English is a good communicator. This requirement is valid only for news presenters, not for others.
The points given by Jacob are also very valid and comprehensive.
The bottom line is that good communication is a combination of several factors which I have listed. Spoken English skills are one of the issues but not the only issue.
If you want to improve your communication skills, you have to focus on your foundations.
Best Wishes

I think communication is important, first of all. You must be able to communicate your ideas, thoughts, views, or respond to any query from anyone in either Hindi or English. I believe you must have a command of the subject and general communication; the focus should not only be on English. Day by day, if you are able to communicate successfully, you can proceed to improve your English communication as well.
I would suggest, in addition to the above-listed suggestions by our colleagues, that you should practice conversations in English with your circle of friends, family, or society members without hesitation. If you can do this, no one can stop you from acquiring success. Since you are an MBA student, you must know and follow the basic principles of effective communication; all of which apply to enriching your communication skills.
Hope you will follow these suggestions and achieve success very soon.

Hi,
I am very glad to say that you are very much interested in improving your English communication skills. If you keep on telling yourself, "I want to improve my English communication," you can't achieve it. So, you have to read English newspapers, English novels, any storybooks, and not just reading once. Once you finish reading, you should try to start writing your own sentences. If you do this daily for one hour, within three months, it will be more than enough to improve your English communication. Your English communication will improve when you start speaking with your friends in English. Only then will you gain the confidence to speak. So, you have to keep on speaking English with your friends. It may be correct or wrong; you should speak English only. Meanwhile, pronunciation will also improve.
