Dear Sir/Madam, I have been employed with a company for the past year. However, throughout this duration, I have not received any salary increment. Meanwhile, I have noticed that new employees, who are joining various departments, are being offered higher salaries despite lacking relevant experience or education. Given these circumstances, I am seeking advice on how I can appropriately request a raise in my salary.

Ya but how i need to represent this matter with my boss ? I m having a good Edu. qualifications compare to my other colleuges. But despite of this m not getting better pay. pls. help.

Hi Nirav,

It is better to write an email to your reporting manager. Convey all the information regarding your performance at work, your commitment, etc. Please do not compare yourself with any of your colleagues. Each individual will have their own talent, so if you start discussing this with your boss, he might perceive it differently.

If all the above tricks do not help increase your salary, then change is a natural course. So, look to change your current job. Then, two possibilities may arise:

1) If you are really good and qualified in your work, your organization will automatically increase your salary.
2) You will find a job with a good salary in another organization if you have the necessary skills.

You have spent almost 1 year in this organization, so it is the organization's responsibility to raise your salary. If this does not happen, then consider other options.

First of all, know your market worth. Look at what other companies can offer you for your skills, knowledge, and talent along with the workload. Maybe you can give interviews to find this out, especially your weaknesses and strengths. Once you find another organization ready to hire you, then speak to your reporting supervisor (boss/manager or whatever) to discuss your job role, responsibilities, and salary. Before aiming for higher goals, it is essential to lay a solid groundwork. Companies typically do not discriminate against their employees intentionally. Please consider the following points:

1. The timing of salary increments varies based on the company's policies. Gather this information first. For instance, if you joined in October and the company's increment cycle is in March, you may need to wait until that time.

2. Consider the qualifications and experience (regardless of relevancy) of new hires.

3. Evaluate whether the assignments are productive or non-productive, directly contributing to the company's revenue.

4. Understand who is recommending the salary packages for new employees.

Human nature dictates that one should establish a position before seeking advancements. Therefore, avoid rushing to your boss for a raise solely based on comparisons with others.

In my view, taking into account the above points and others, you can have a casual conversation with your reporting manager and then proceed accordingly.

Yes, I have already tried all these steps. I am able to get a similar pay somewhere else. I have a strong attachment to my current employer, so I don't want to move. I want them to offer me the same pay.

Since you cannot get the raise, the other option after reading your latest post is to get a deduction of pay from your competitor. If that is not possible, then please bear it. You seem to have exhausted all available options under the sun.
