Dear all,

I am a fresher and pursuing my MPM+PGDM from Pune University. I am receiving various job offers related to HR, but most of them are from consultancy firms and the job profile is for HR Executive roles. I would like to ask all of you whether it is advisable to begin my career in HR with this type of role or if I should consider approaching other organizations.

Regards,
Priyanka

Hi,

It's very competitive and a little difficult to say which questions can be asked in an HR interview. But I would like to share a few questions that have been recently asked in interviews:

- What do you want to do in your life?
- What was the toughest time in your life?
- Is there anything you wanted to do in your life that you now regret not doing?
- What is the most difficult task for an HR person in a leadership role?
- Why is HR necessary? Can't it be outsourced?
- Why are you here?

I hope these questions help you in your preparations.

All the best,

Siddharth

this may help you
1. How will you measure the effectiveness of a training program?
2. How will you ensure that employee welfare measures are in place?
3. What are the various methods of PMS and which one would you prefer?
4. Why HR?
5. Will you go by ethics in a situation when your immediate boss asks you to break a policy for promotion?
6. How important do you think is 360o Appraisal? Which other appraisal tool would you prefer?
7. Difference between recruitment and Selection?
8. What would you like to be - a Recruiter or Training Manager and Why?
9. A Scenario Based Question – An employee in your organization wants training in communications, but his boss/supervisor wants him to have technical training. Meanwhile the Manager / Head of the Department wants him to get training in meditation and yoga. How will you solve the problem in one week and restricted budget?

Hi Mukta, how are you today?

Well, I don't think there should be any problem finding a placement. You just need to apply for positions. You mentioned that you have completed your MBA from BVP in the 1st division and have one year of experience, though not extensive. You simply need to apply for corporate sector jobs. With your strong knowledge in your field and your skills, make sure to utilize them. Keep learning more about your field. I'm confident you will find the opportunity you are seeking.

One more thing to be aware of is that many employers are actively seeking skilled and talented candidates like yourself. So, go ahead and apply for those positions.

Best of luck

Pursuing MBA (distance learning) 4th semester, looking for exposure in HR as a trainee.

Hello all,

My name is Rachna, and I am doing MBA correspondence from IMT-Ghaziabad. I am seeking exposure in the HR field. I am very confused about where to start because people don't give much preference to distance learning. Also, please advise me if I should go for a recruitment executive position in consultancies if they come my way. Please inform me of any openings.

Regards,
Rachna

These questions are normally asked to assess various abilities of the person, largely goal orientation, handling difficult situations, and to check if the person can think on his/her feet. Having worked in HR for so long, if someone asks me these questions now, my answers would be:

What do you want to do in your life? - Be happy and create happiness.

Which was your toughest time in your life? - Yet to come... probably the current moment... convincing you that I am the best person for this role.

Was there anything in your life you wanted to do and would always regret that you did? - Flirting with values.

What is the most difficult task for an HR person in a lead role? - To lead.

Why is HR required? Can it be always outsourced? - Yes, one needs a good HR person for effective HR outsourcing.

Why are you here? - To seek an opportunity to make a difference in your life/organization.

Having answered these, I would STRONGLY recommend that everyone should have their genuine answers. A genuine response makes a difference. The human mind is great; it immediately senses the mugged-up/superficial answers. So, do not try to copy phrases of others; create your own with sincerity, and you will see that it shall work.
