hi friends, what is the difference between mentoring and coaching

I think the difference in simple terms is this. Mentoring is "Helping to Grow". Coaching is "Teaching to grow'. One comes from within and the other from without

In other words mentoring is like holding a mirror, while coaching is like telling where the mistakes are and also how to correct them.

Perhaps the easiest model to use is to think of coaching as not requiring any specific content; it's simply a process that empowers people to find their own way through an issue. Mentoring, on the other hand, requires the person in the mentoring role to have content knowledge of the area they are discussing with their client (e.g., growing a business). While it's not as black and white as this distinction, it serves as a useful guideline.
