Hi,
I am Sangeetha. I have finished my MBA in Regular (HR with Marketing) in 2009. I worked as an IT helpdesk coordinator during my MBA project period, continuing for one year. After obtaining my degree, I joined a new company as a Management Representative. This role is entirely different and new to me. Could you please provide a brief explanation of this profile (Management Representative - QMS)?

Sangeetha/Tinku, This seems to be a strange designation. `Management Representative' is usually appointed in departmental enquiry and for implementation of `ISO'.

I would like to know if there is any certification required to become an MR. If required, I have searched and found many institutes that provide certified training for internal auditors and lead auditors. Some institutes are certified with NABET, and others are certified with different bodies. I am interested in knowing which one would be better, or if it makes any difference which institute is certified with which certificate.

Understanding the Role of a Management Representative in QMS
The assessor will check that your written quality management systems match what you are actually doing and make any recommendations for changes that may be needed. Once the changes have been carried out, you will then be ready for the actual audit that is conducted to the ISO 9001 standard by an independent third party, an accredited certification body. In the UK, they should be accredited by UKAS.

Understanding the Role of a Management Representative (MR)
S. Narendra Nath and isoconsultants have provided very valuable inputs to help carry out the position effectively. Please read and understand your Quality Manual and ensure that your SOPs are aligned with the same. Additionally, try to understand terms such as Quality, Processes, Systems, SOPs, Activities, Documents, Formats, Records, and Reviews.
The primary role of the MR is to ensure the Quality Management System is in place, coordinate with the Quality Segments and the Top Management, and work closely with Quality Audit authorities to ensure process compliance.
