I wonder why we didn't have any kind of national mourning after 76 of our CRPF personnel were massacred in a Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh. The Centre and state governments are competing with each other to declare mornings and holidays when some political or religious leaders die, highlighting the 'valuable' contribution they made to our country and society. The families of those policemen may be rewarded with lakhs and jobs, but none of these politicians or bureaucrats would risk their lives even for lakhs or crores. What kind of country do we live in now? I think India is the only country on earth where human life is so trivial.
This incident also points to the fact that despite the vast expenditure involved in modernizing our security forces, nothing concrete has happened at the ground level. There is a lot of corruption happening in security establishments, and a significant gap exists between the ranks in terms of facilities, which reflects in the morale and fighting spirit of the personnel.
At least we, the CiteHR members, may please remember those who died fighting for our future. Please share your comments on this topic so that we can create some awareness among the general public about the internal threats India is facing.

I truly agree with all the above points. These Naxalites are killing our CRPF left, right, and centre. The dialogue between Naxalites and our concerned authorities has failed, but still, our Home Minister Mr. Chidambaram says that the army will not be used against them. Can't we learn from Sri Lanka? In our country, for 15,000 politicians, there are more than 47,000 security personnel employed, and that too for those people who are good only for making promises and are otherwise good for nothing.
I am just an engineering student involved in conducting certain types of management classes. I just want to ask my seniors here, can't we people do anything for our brave soldiers and their families, at least a march or anything that we can conduct together?
Please do let me know because I seriously want to work out something for them, not just because 76 security personnel lost their lives. I always salute and want to do something for our soldiers.

I am not able to understand what we can achieve by marching in protest or by lighting candles at some monuments. Are these the means to awaken our politicians, spread awareness about the events in the country, or a way to mourn the deaths of innocent people?

As our country is highly populated, the value of life is very simple in this country. In addition, our politicians never give our soldiers their dues. The number of soldiers are dying on our border daily as our politicians have made this routine. No one takes strict action against those killers. Still trying diplomatic tactics...! Uff... Well, I am not against it. But we should scare our enemy before thinking anything against us. In developed countries like the U.S., U.K., Japan, etc., the value for their soldiers is extremely high. Anyhow, one good leader can change this. Let's wait for that one.
