Hi, I'm currently working as an Assistant Manager Training for a telecom company. I have recently had an interview with a finance-based company and have been selected. However, this new company has not yet provided me with an offer letter. I have received a confirmation email from HR which includes my joining date and salary details. They have instructed me to consider the email as an offer and have mentioned that the official offer letter will only be given on the day of joining. I'm feeling confused.

Can someone advise me on whether I should accept this offer based solely on an email or if I should request a hardcopy offer letter?

I think it's fine. Email is also considered as proof. Many business transactions and correspondence are mail-based. Don't worry, be happy, and proceed, but stress the importance of the appointment letter within one week of joining.

It's a common practice these days to send offers through email. Companies typically provide the appointment letter on the date of joining. These companies often consider the offer letter and appointment letter to be the same document. It's advisable to meet with the HR of the company to reconfirm. You might consider requesting the HR's signature on the printed email if you feel it's necessary.

I would suggest that you tell them to take a printout of the email, get it signed and sealed, and you'll collect it prior to your joining. Request that you want the confidence, as many of your friends have suffered this way and you don't want to be the one. I guess this will work out. You can try it out.
